2010-2011 Student Parking Information

Dear Cardinal Newman Students:

Due to a limited number of parking spaces, we will offer parking spaces this year through a lottery system. To participate in the lottery drawing, students must complete the Cardinal Newman School Parking Application (found on CNS website) and return it to CNS before 3:00PM on August 9, 2010. Only seniors are required to include the $20.00 parking fee with the application. If a senior does not receive a parking place, the fee will be returned as soon as possible. Underclassmen receiving parking places with pay their $20.00 parking fee for those spaces during their scheduled orientations.

The completed applications of seniors will be drawn first, followed by juniors, sophomores and then any freshmen who may be able to drive. The stickers for the assigned parking spaces will be issued to students during their respective orientations.

Those students who are not assigned a parking space in the school lot will be issued parking stickers for the Piggly Wiggly parking lot. The parking guidelines posted below apply to the school lot as well as the Piggly Wiggly lot.

There is no parking fee for the spaces in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot.

2010-2011 Cardinal Newman School Student Parking Guidelines

Please note: These rules apply for both the Cardinal Newman School Parking lot and the Piggly Wiggly Parking Lot.

Only Cardinal Newman students who have submitted completed parking registration forms and have received a decal will be allowed to drive to school.
Make sure your car is locked at all times. Cardinal Newman does not assume responsibility for contents left in your car or damages to your car.
Cars are not to be backed into spaces.
You can go to your car only for the purpose of leaving the campus. You may not sit in any cars during your free period or lunch period. There will be no loitering in the parking lots before, during or after school hours.
Excessive speeding, loud radio playing, and horseplay are not permitted in the Cardinal Newman parking lots. The Forest Acres Police Department has jurisdiction over this lot. We are members of the Forest Acres community and wish to be good neighbors.
The Cardinal Newman administration reserves the right to search your car at any time.
You must enter and exit the school in the specified manner along the paved routes while obeying all traffic signs.
The CARDINAL NEWMAN PARKING STICKER must be permanently affixed to the back of your vehicle. Unauthorized cars may be towed away at the owner’s expense.
If somebody has parked in your space, report this information (including type of car and license number) to the school office immediately. Do not take another person’s space if someone takes yours.
You are not to have any offensive or controversial materials (stickers, license plates, paint, etc.) on your vehicle.
Do not throw trash in the parking lot. You are responsible for keeping your space clean.
Please exercise good judgment and obey the rules of the road while driving to and from school. Traffic violations or improper driving may result in the suspension of parking privileges or disciplinary action.
You may not give permission to another student to use your parking space during school hours. You may not give your space to another person if you leave Cardinal Newman School.
If you drive another car to school, you must notify the office immediately and complete the proper paperwork.

The fee is $15.00 per semester or $20.00 for the school year, payable at the time of application. This fee includes the cost of the parking decal. Students who wish to obtain parking privileges later in the year will pay a pro-rated fee of no less than $15.00.

If you violate any of the above rules, you may lose your parking space. No refunds will be given at any time for any reason.

A copy of these guidelines is available for printing here. Please print out a copy of these guidelines and submit it with all required signatures, along with your completed parking application and parking fees. You will not receive a parking decal or permission to park on campus without turning in all required forms.
